Gyre vs StreamOps

Both loop pre-recorded video as a 24/7 live stream. Gyre runs it in the cloud. StreamOps runs it on your own machine for free, or in our cloud with StreamOps Cloud. Here is how they differ and who should pick which.

In short

  • Gyre is a cloud service. StreamOps runs either on your own PC or server, or on StreamOps Cloud, where we run it for you.
  • For one stream: Gyre starts at $49 a month, StreamOps Cloud 1 is $15, and StreamOps on your own PC is free.
  • Gyre's $49 plan does not include playlists or the scheduler; those start at $99. Every StreamOps Cloud plan has both.
  • Storage: Gyre 35–150 GB by plan, StreamOps Cloud 25 GB per stream, and on your own PC your disk with no cap.
  • Gyre lists 4K, Instagram and X; StreamOps does not. For everything else, StreamOps costs less in the cloud and far less on your own PC.

Introduction

Gyre and StreamOps do the same job for the viewer: a channel that is always live, playing video you prepared earlier. For you, the person running it, they are very different products.

We make StreamOps, so this is not a neutral review. What follows about Gyre comes from Gyre's own pricing page and website as they read on 9 October 2026. Check it before you decide — prices change.

The Real Difference

Gyre runs your stream on its servers. StreamOps can run it on yours, or on ours with StreamOps Cloud. Which way you run StreamOps decides most of this comparison.

  • With Gyre, and with StreamOps Cloud, you upload videos within a storage limit, and nothing of yours has to stay switched on.
  • With StreamOps on your own PC the videos stay in a folder on your disk, and the machine running it has to stay on with a steady upload connection.
  • Gyre and StreamOps Cloud charge for the servers they run for you. StreamOps on your own PC runs no servers for your stream, which is why one stream can be free.

Gyre's annual prices are $488, $986 and $1,684. A year of StreamOps Cloud costs ten months — two months free. StreamOps is billed in rupees, and the dollar figures are approximate. See StreamOps pricing for the full plans.

On your own PC, count the machine too

The StreamOps price does not include the computer, electricity or internet connection. If you already have a PC that stays on, that cost is close to nothing. If you would rent a server only for this, add its monthly price before you compare.

Where Your Videos Live

Gyre stores your videos in Gyre Storage and converts them to be stream-ready. It can also stream videos that are already uploaded to YouTube, which saves uploading them twice. The storage limit is 35 GB on Start, 75 GB on Start+ and 150 GB on PRO+.

StreamOps on your own PC has no upload step. You point it at a folder, and it indexes what is there and picks up new files as you add them. A library of several hundred gigabytes is no different from a small one, and the files never leave your machine.

On StreamOps Cloud you upload videos in the browser, up to 20 GB each, or import them from a Google Drive or Dropbox link, within 25 GB of storage per stream on your plan. Each video is processed once for streaming and the original is deleted.

Playlists & Scheduling

On Gyre, playlists and the stream scheduler are not part of the $49 Start plan. They come with Start+ at $99 a month and above. On the Start plan you loop what you have selected.

On StreamOps, looped playlists are in every plan, including Free. The scheduler — a chosen video that takes over at set times, repeating daily or weekly, with a calendar view — is in Creator and above, and in every StreamOps Cloud plan. See playlist-based streaming and stream scheduling.

Reliability

The two fail in different ways, and it is worth being clear about which risk you are taking.

With a cloud service — Gyre or StreamOps Cloud — you depend on the provider. With StreamOps on your own machine you depend on your own power and connection. A rented server with StreamOps on it sits in between.

Platforms

Gyre lists YouTube, Twitch, Facebook, Instagram, X, Kick and Mixcloud. StreamOps streams to YouTube, Twitch, Facebook, Kick and any custom RTMP address; sending one stream to several of them at once is in Creator and above, and in every StreamOps Cloud plan. If Instagram or X is essential, that is a point for Gyre.

When to Choose Gyre

  • You need 4K, which Gyre lists on its two higher plans and StreamOps Cloud does not offer.
  • You need to stream to Instagram or X.
  • Your videos are already on YouTube and you would rather not upload them again.
  • You want longer to try a cloud service before paying: Gyre's trial runs for 7 days (with a watermark), while the StreamOps Cloud trial lasts 12 hours.

When to Choose StreamOps

  • You have a PC or server that can stay on: run it there, free for one stream.
  • You do not: StreamOps Cloud runs it for you from $15 a month for one stream.
  • You want playlists and the scheduler without moving to a higher plan.
  • You run several channels and want the bill to grow slowly — or, on your own PC, barely at all.
  • Your library is larger than a cloud storage limit, or you do not want to upload it — run it on your own PC.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Gyre and StreamOps?

Gyre is a cloud service: you upload videos and it streams them from its servers. StreamOps comes two ways: software you install on your own PC or server, which streams straight from your disk, or StreamOps Cloud, where we run it on our servers from videos you upload or import. Gyre charges per plan with a set number of streams and storage; StreamOps is free for one stream on your own PC, and StreamOps Cloud is priced by streams.

Is StreamOps a free alternative to Gyre?

For one stream on your own machine, yes. The StreamOps free plan runs one always-on stream with no time limit and no watermark; you provide the computer and the internet connection. StreamOps Cloud has no free plan, but you can try it free for 12 hours.

How much does Gyre cost?

On 9 October 2026 Gyre listed Start at $49 a month for 1 HD stream, Start+ at $99 for 4 HD streams or one 4K stream, and PRO+ at $169 for 8 HD streams or two 4K streams. Annual billing is about 17% cheaper.

Does Gyre have a free plan?

Gyre has a 7-day free trial with one HD stream, 20 GB of storage and a watermark. It is a trial, not an ongoing free plan.

Do I need to keep my computer on with StreamOps?

Only if you run it on your own machine: then that machine has to stay on and connected, whether it is a PC at home, an office machine or a rented Linux server. With StreamOps Cloud, as with Gyre, nothing of yours has to stay on.

Which is cheaper for several 24/7 streams?

On your own machine, StreamOps by a wide margin: Creator covers up to 5 streams for ₹999 a month (about $12), against Gyre's $99 for 4 and $169 for 8. In the cloud StreamOps is a little cheaper: StreamOps Cloud 5 is ₹6,999 a month (about $84) for 5 HD streams, and Cloud 10 is ₹12,999 (about $157) for 10. Gyre's higher plans can also stream 4K, which StreamOps Cloud does not.

Can I move from Gyre to StreamOps?

Yes. On your own machine, put your video files in a folder, build a playlist and use the same YouTube stream key — nothing has to be re-uploaded. On StreamOps Cloud, upload the files or import them from Google Drive or Dropbox.

Conclusion

Gyre is a straightforward cloud service, and the one to pick if you need 4K, Instagram or X. For everything else StreamOps gives you two ways in: free on a machine you already have, or StreamOps Cloud if you have nothing to leave on — $15 a month for one stream against Gyre's $49, with playlists and the scheduler on every plan.
