Popular Questions
What is StreamOps?
StreamOps is a streaming operations platform. It lets you broadcast pre-recorded videos as live streams 24/7 to YouTube, Twitch, or any RTMP platform — fully automated. No camera, no live presenter required. Run it on your own PC or server, or let us run it for you with StreamOps Cloud.
Is there a free trial?
Yes — every new account starts with a Pro trial for 7 days (full access to 15 concurrent streams and analytics), not a trial of whichever plan you pick. No credit card required. When it ends you automatically drop to the Free plan rather than losing access. That trial is for running StreamOps on your own PC; StreamOps Cloud has its own free trial: 12 hours on one stream, no card needed.
What happens if my stream drops?
StreamOps detects the failure and automatically attempts to restart the stream. You'll receive an alert in the dashboard. The auto-restart logic includes exponential backoff to avoid hammering your platform.
How does licensing work?
Your license key is tied to your StreamOps account, and hardware fingerprinting binds it to the machine you activate it on. You can deactivate a machine and activate another from Settings → Streaming (up to 3 moves in 30 days; support can help beyond that). What your plan caps is concurrent streams, not machines.

What do I actually install?
On your own PC or server, a lightweight StreamOps binary (StreamRunner). It handles video encoding via FFmpeg, pushes RTMP streams, and executes scheduled jobs; the StreamOps web dashboard connects to it and gives you a UI to manage everything. With StreamOps Cloud you install nothing — the same engine runs on our servers.
Do I need technical skills to use StreamOps?
On your own machine, basic comfort with downloading a binary and running it in a terminal is helpful. On StreamOps Cloud there is nothing to set up. Either way, everything is managed through the web dashboard — no command-line required for day-to-day use.
Does StreamOps run in the cloud or on my own machine?
Your choice. On the Free, Creator and Pro plans the web dashboard is cloud-hosted (we manage it) and StreamOps itself runs on your own machine, so your videos stay on your infrastructure and you control the hardware. On a StreamOps Cloud plan we run it on our servers: your videos are uploaded to and stored by us, and streamed from there.
Streaming
What streaming platforms does StreamOps support?
Any platform that accepts an RTMP ingest: YouTube, Twitch, Facebook Live, Kick, TikTok Live, custom RTMP servers, and more. YouTube-specific features (analytics, broadcast scheduling) require connecting a YouTube account.
Can I stream to multiple platforms simultaneously?
Yes — each stream in StreamOps is an independent RTMP output. You can create multiple streams pointing to different platforms and run them at the same time (up to your plan's stream limit).
What video formats are supported?
StreamOps picks up MP4, MOV, and MKV files from your video folder. FFmpeg handles the encoding, so most common codecs (H.264, H.265, VP9) work inside those containers. We recommend H.264 MP4 for maximum compatibility.

How do my videos get into StreamOps?
On your own machine, you put them in a folder and point StreamOps at it in Settings — there is no upload step and no file size limit, and your library never leaves your own disk. On StreamOps Cloud you upload them in the browser (up to 20 GB per video, within your plan's storage) or import them from a Google Drive or Dropbox link; each video is processed once for streaming.
Can I stream my screen instead of pre-recorded video?
Yes — a Screen Sharing stream captures your desktop or a specific monitor live, with an optional camera overlay and microphone audio, and runs through the same crash-recovery and multi-destination pipeline as a playlist stream. Included on every plan, including Free, when StreamOps runs on your own PC — it isn't available on StreamOps Cloud, which has no screen to capture.
AI & Collaboration
What do the AI suggestions and daily briefings do?
StreamOps reviews your streams, schedule, and media library, then proposes concrete actions — like filling a scheduling gap or reordering a playlist — that you approve or reject before anything changes. You can also ask it questions about your own setup directly through a chat interface, and generate an on-demand daily briefing. Included on the Pro plan and above.
Can I invite my team to StreamOps?
Yes — invite teammates by email and assign them Owner, Editor, or Viewer roles. Included on the Pro plan and above; existing team members, role changes, and removals stay manageable even if your plan later lapses.
Pricing & Plans
Is there a free trial?
Yes — every new account starts with a Pro trial for 7 days (full access to 15 concurrent streams and analytics), not a trial of whichever plan you pick. No credit card required. When it ends you automatically drop to the Free plan rather than losing access. That trial is for running StreamOps on your own PC; StreamOps Cloud has its own free trial: 12 hours on one stream, no card needed.
Can I change plans later?
Yes. Upgrades take effect immediately; downgrades apply at the start of the next billing cycle. Contact support if you need to adjust mid-cycle.
What happens when I reach my stream limit?
The dashboard will block you from starting additional streams beyond your plan's limit. You can stop an existing stream to free up a slot, or upgrade your plan.
Do you offer annual billing?
Yes — Creator and Pro are 20% cheaper billed annually, and StreamOps Cloud plans get 2 months free (a year costs 10 months). Select the annual option at checkout.
Technical
What are the system requirements for StreamOps?
For running StreamOps on your own machine (StreamOps Cloud needs only a browser): FFmpeg v4.3+ on system PATH, 2 GB RAM minimum (4 GB+ recommended for multiple streams), and a stable upload connection of at least 5 Mbps per stream. StreamOps runs on Windows 10/11 and Linux (Ubuntu 20.04+, Debian 11+). macOS support is not yet available.
Can I run StreamOps on a VPS or cloud server?
Absolutely. StreamOps is designed to run headlessly on a remote server. Any Linux VPS with decent CPU and stable upload will work well.
Is my stream key stored securely?
Stream keys are encrypted at rest in StreamOps's local database and never sent to our dashboard servers in plaintext. On StreamOps Cloud that database lives on the cloud server we run for you, still encrypted. Authentication uses HttpOnly cookies, protecting against XSS-based token theft.
Does StreamOps work without an internet connection?
StreamOps itself needs internet to push the RTMP stream to your platform. The dashboard requires internet to communicate with it and load analytics. Scheduled jobs will still execute locally if the dashboard is unreachable.
